Sadly, we only had Parker for a few hours. He was dumped out at the Applebee’s colony and was visibly sick and lethargic. The colony caregivers brought him to us and we got him set up in a warming station, then tried to feed him.
He ate, but only half heartedly. Mostly, he slept hugging the plushy we gave him.
When he showed no improvement after a couple of hours, we got him to SVVS, and discovered that he had Feline panleukopenia, and the vet said that the best course of action was to humanely euthanize.
We agreed.
Sadly, sometimes, there’s just no saving the little ones that come through our door, and PanLeuk is highly contagious. If we had put him with the others, we could have lost half the cats or more. It’s just not a risk we can take.
Farewell, little Parker – we didn’t know you long enough.
