Tig, Karen, and Raisinette!

We got a call from someone here in town whose colony is under threat. The building that the colony is using for shelter is being torn down, and there’s nowhere else to hide.

Worse, the area is filled with dogs, none of whom are fond of cats.

These babies are from the same colony that Peaches and little Dandelion came from and originally there were four, but one of the kittens had died before our contact could get to them, so we wound up with three. The survivors.

Tig and Raisin are boys, and Karen is a very outspoken little girl. She has lots of opinions and she would definitely like to speak to a Manager. Right now.

Tig and Karen are closely bonded and Karen melts into him when she gets scared.

When we first met Tig he was vicious for a four-week-old kitten, and Jennifer and I were both on the receiving end of his very sharp teeth.

After four days with us though, Tig has decided that humans are okay, and no longer hisses when I bend over to pick him up. In fact, I set him on the floor to play this morning and he opted not to, climbing back up my leg and curling up in my lap, purring. That’s big progress!

Tig and Karen both have really bad, crusty eyes. I’m applying Terramycin twice a day and I don’t think Tig will be able to use one eye (max 20% vision would be my guess), and Karen will probably have about 50% in both eyes.

Little Raisinette (we have a cat named Raisin at home and this little guy could be his son) is perfect. Healthy, sweet natured, no eye or upper respiratory issues. Just a great, almost solid black cat with inquisitive eyes and a gentle nature.

We’ve got a vet visit arranged for them later this week, and I will update this post with the results as I get them. As soon as they’ve got a clean bill of health, we’ll get them on the van before I break down and decide to keep little Tig. ๐Ÿ™‚

The kittens are growing, playing and becoming socialized.
